When it is your turn to pick the location choose the place, decide on the food you can sometimes feel overwhelmed.  We are really good at having fun and making sure everyone that attends is having just as much fun.  We hosted a family reunion one year where every family member had a bit part in a talent show.  I was glad I was not the judge as they all had a blast and each one was a riot.
This one that is pictured was our most recent event where a group of reenactors get together each year and just visit, shop and share stories or the all the locations they have performed across the country and beyond.  They booked the whole house and I worked with the Best Western on the River to take on the several several dozen other folks downtown. They had a blast on the Mark Twain Riverboat, and taking tours of all the museums downtown.
Each person was dressed in costume as they toured, shopped and ate.  During one breakfast one morning I asked asked a gentleman why he only had one star as a general.  His quick wit answer was the war ended!
‘Back in the Day’ as they refer, the wealthy women, as in Downton Abbey, had all the dresses made for them.  They would pick the fabric I assume and have their seamstress make them.  If they could not afford it they would do it themselves.  Now today, I found the east coast the west coast gals are completely.  (Now this was most, and and not all, so don’t give me a hard time here!)  The ones on the east coast mostly had them made for them, as was done days gone by, if they could afford it.  The west coast gals said they would never dream of having someone make their gowns.  They made them all themselves.
